Overview

To help you save time and bandwidth, Helio now allows you to reuse assets from a project you have previously created and rendered on our platform. Instead of re-uploading every file, you can link your new project to an existing one, and Helio will intelligently use the files that are already on our servers.

This guide will walk you through the process.

How to Reuse Files from a Previous Project

Follow these steps to create a new project using assets from an existing Helio project.

Step 1: Export Your New Scene

Begin by preparing your new 3D scene for Helio.

  • Use the Helio plugin for 3ds Max or Pulze Scene Manager to export your scene as you normally would.

Step 2: Create a New Project Catalogue

In the Helio web interface:

  1. The catalogue settings (3ds Max version and render engine) are automatically prefilled from the data collected by the Helio plugin or Scene Manager during your export. Simply verify that they are correct.

Step 3: Name Your Project

  1. Enter a descriptive Project Name for this new job to easily identify it later.

Step 4: File Sync - Select Your Source Project
This is the key step for reusing your files.

4. On the File Sync page, look for the option to "Use files from another project"

5. Use the dropdown menu to select the previous project that contains the assets (textures, models, etc.) you want to reuse.

β€‹πŸ’‘ Tip: Helio will compare the files in your new scene with the files in the project you select. Any files that are identical will be linked, skipping the upload. Only new or modified files will be transferred.

Step 5: Review Your Settings

  1. Carefully review all project settings, such as render output, frame range, and resolution, to ensure they are correct for this new scene.

Step 6: Start the Job

  1. Once your review is complete, click "Continue" or "Start Render" to begin processing your job.
