This guide explains how to properly set up and render scenes using the wParallax plugin in 3ds Max with Helio Cloud. Since wParallax uses custom OSL shaders, they must be manually included in your project before rendering.

Why This Process Is Needed

The wParallax plugin relies on OSL shader files that are not automatically collected by Pulze Scene Manager. To ensure these shaders are available during cloud rendering, you must manually add them to your project before submission.

Step-by-Step Setup for wParallax Rendering

1. Export Your Project with Pulze Scene Manager

  • Open your scene in 3ds Max.

  • Click the Cloud Export button in Pulze Scene Manager to begin asset collection.

  • Wait for Scene Manager to finish gathering all assets.
โ€‹(This may take some time depending on scene complexity.)

2. Helio Client Launches Automatically

  • Once asset collection is complete, the Helio Client will open.

  • Click Add Project and verify all settings are correct.

  • Do not add a render yetโ€”click Cancel to exit the render setup.

3. Manually Add wParallax OSL Files

  • Locate the wParallax OSL shader files (usually .osl or .oso files).

  • Copy these files into the Scene Manager export folder (where your project was saved).
โ€‹(This ensures they are included in the cloud render.)

4. Sync Files to Cloud Storage

  • In the Helio Client, click the Sync button to upload all files (including the newly added OSL shaders) to your project's cloud storage.
โ€‹(This ensures Helio has access to the wParallax shaders during rendering.)

5. Re-Export & Submit Your Render

  • Return to 3ds Max and run another Cloud Export from Pulze Scene Manager.

  • This time, proceed with adding your render as usual.

  • Select your cameras, adjust settings if needed, and submit to Helio Cloud.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Missing wParallax effects?
Ensure the OSL files were correctly copied to the export folder before syncing.

  • Render errors?
Check that the OSL shaders are compatible with your render engine (e.g., Arnold, V-Ray).

  • Still having issues?
Contact Helio Support for assistance with plugin-related rendering problems.

Final Notes

  • This method ensures wParallax shaders are properly included in cloud renders.

  • Always sync files before final submission to avoid missing dependencies.

  • For frequent wParallax use, consider keeping OSL files in a consistent location for easy access.

By following these steps, you can successfully render scenes using wParallax in Helio Cloud. If you encounter any issues, our support team is here to help! ๐Ÿš€
