Important Update: V-Ray 7 Compatibility on Our Cloud Rendering Service

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing the best rendering experience on our cloud platform, we want to inform our users about some important changes and updates following the release of V-Ray 7.

Key Changes with V-Ray 7

With the introduction of V-Ray 7, there are some changes in compatibility that will affect certain third-party plugins and tools. Below, we've outlined what's working, what isn't, and what you can expect in terms of support:

What’s Not Working

  1. Phoenix FD
Due to the update in V-Ray 7, Phoenix FD is currently not supported. We will not be implementing the nightly builds of Phoenix FD, and users attempting to render Phoenix FD simulations may experience issues or failures. We recommend using an earlier version of V-Ray or considering alternative tools for simulations.

  2. TyFlow is also encountering issues with V-Ray 7. Objects from TyFlow are not rendering as expected in this latest V-Ray version. We are working to resolve the compatibility issues, but currently, we recommend using V-Ray 6, which supports tyflow render or seeking an alternative solution for motion graphics and simulations that rely on TyFlow.

What’s Working

While there are some compatibility issues with certain plugins, we are pleased to confirm that many popular tools are functioning as expected with V-Ray 7. These include:

  1. Forest Pack
Forest Pack continues to work seamlessly with V-Ray 7, so you can rely on it for creating lush environments, scattering objects, and rendering large-scale scenes.

  2. RailClone
Similarly, RailClone remains fully supported and is working as expected with V-Ray 7. You can continue to create parametric models and render them without issues.

  3. Third-Party Maps
All third-party maps are fully compatible with V-Ray 7. Whether you're using textures from other providers or advanced material systems, they should render without any trouble.

  4. Anima (for crowd simulation and character animation) is functioning correctly with V-Ray 7. You can continue to use it for populating your scenes with animated characters, and all simulations will render properly.

  5. SmartRef & XRefs are also fully supported, so you can continue to manage scene references and external assets without experiencing any disruptions.

  6. Object Modifiers (e.g., Greeble, Floorgen)
Object modifiers like Greeble and Floorgen are working correctly with V-Ray 7, so you can continue to use them to add detail and complexity to your models.

What You Can Do to Ensure Smooth Rendering

To ensure that your scenes render successfully with V-Ray 7 on our cloud platform, we recommend the following:

  • Avoid using unsupported plugins: If your project relies heavily on Phoenix FD or TyFlow, we suggest switching to earlier versions of V-Ray for now until these plugins are fully supported.

  • Test your scene locally: If you're unsure whether a specific tool or plugin will work with V-Ray 7, we recommend testing your scene locally before submitting it for cloud rendering.

  • Stay updated: We will continue to monitor V-Ray 7 compatibility and provide updates on any fixes or new developments. Check our status page or user support forums for the latest information.

Looking Ahead

We are actively working on improving compatibility with V-Ray 7 and our Cloud rendering services, addressing issues related to Phoenix FD and TyFlow. While these plugins are currently unsupported, we will keep our users informed on any changes or updates that may resolve these issues in the future.

As always, if you have any questions or need assistance with your cloud rendering projects, don't hesitate to reach out to our support team.
